Health & Safety Policies

The Health and Safety Committee of the Amadeus Choir continues to monitor the status of Covid-19 in our region. Our goal is to create a safe space for live singing so that we can carry out our many exciting activities this season. We are continuously evaluating the level of risk and the preferences of members of our community. These protocols are subject to change at any time throughout the season, but we will provide reasonable notice of any changes to members via email.

Live Streaming

This season, we will be live-streaming every rehearsal so that members who are unable to attend for any reason are able to sing along from home in real time or watch the recording at a later time.

Screening & Attendance

Before attending any in-person gathering of the Amadeus Choir, singers must ensure that they pass the Government of Ontario self-assessment screening for Covid-19. A list of criteria will be posted at the entry to rehearsals. By being marked present in the attendance records, you are confirming that you pass the self-assessment criteria. The Amadeus Choir will no longer process a screening form for every gathering.

Stay home if you are feeling unwell or if any of the screening questions indicate you should do so. See Member Handbook for detailed attendance policy.

Vaccination

We are requiring at least two doses of the Covid-19 vaccine, with the most recent dose having been administered no earlier than Sep. 1, 2021. We will not check proof of vaccination at this time, but rather ask that all singers honour this requirement before attending an in-person gathering.

Masks

At this time, we are requiring that all singers wear masks during indoor rehearsal. Brief periods of unmasking may occur during coffee break or to take a sip of water. This policy will be reviewed continuously and we welcome feedback from all singers on the continuation of masked singing. The type of mask used is at the discretion of the singer. For performance, masks should be black unless otherwise indicated by the dress code.

If rehearsing outdoors, masks are optional.

The conductor will be unmasked. A portable HEPA filter will be placed in front of the conductor for an additional layer of safety. When the conductor steps down from the podium, they should replace their mask.

Occasionally, we will welcome soloists and guest artists to our rehearsals. These artists may unmask as long as sufficient distancing is maintained.

Distancing

While masks are worn, singers will be a comfortable distance from one-another, but not necessarily 1m.

Ventilation

Our rehearsal location is equipped with an advanced HVAC system and Merv-14 filters. A HEPA filter will be placed in front of the conductor and additional filters may be placed in the room.

When we are in venues other than our home rehearsal location, we will make every effort to ensure good air exchange either by HVAC, open windows/doors, and/or portable HEPA filters.

Sanitization

All persons are responsible for regular handwashing and hygiene. Chairs and surfaces will not be sanitized by Amadeus personnel.

Contact Tracing

If you test positive for Covid-19 within 5 days of attending an Amadeus event, please inform Amanda at choircoordinator@amadeuschoir.com. This information is only for the purposes of informing policy decisions. We will not be notifying any other staff or members of the choir.
