Pouya Hamidi is an award-winning composer, pianist, and sound engineer based in Toronto. He is adapting his composition called “Hafez” for the Amadeus Choir, piano, and daf (Persian frame drum). With text by Toronto-based Persian-Canadian poet Bänoo Zan, the piece tells the story of displacement, diaspora, and migration.
Pouya’s music is influenced by a number of sources including the music of his country of origin: Iran, Western classical and contemporary music, alternative rock music, and electronic music.
